DARLENE TENES

Ms. Tenes was the founder and Chief Executive Maniac of Marketing Maniacs, Inc., a Silicon Valley event marketing and management firm.  Founded in 1998, the firm specialized in working with direct to consumer-based businesses and non-profits with a special emphasis in Hispanic marketing. In 2007 she founded CasaQ, a Hispanic Lifestyle Company that provides products, services and products to people who embrace the Latino culture

Since 2003 Ms. Tenes has been a regular contributor on NBC Bay Area and CBS-5 in the San Francisco Bay Area as a Latino Lifestyle expert discussing history, foods, and traditions of Mexico, Spain and other Latin-American countries. Known for her micro-history lessons and quick wit she became a favorite guest sharing recipes, entertaining tips and more with the television audience. She has co-hosted the annual CasaQ / NBC Bay Area Best Darn Tamale contest for since 2004 and is featured on PBS Heirloom Meals Christmas Special.

Ms. Tenes teaches event and meeting planning courses to industry professionals through San Francisco State University College’s Extended Learning certificate program, Silicon Valley Concierge Association, and other professional associations. She is a eHow expert on food and event planning and a professional speaker at seminars, conferences and corporations. Her marketing methods have been featured in Guerrilla Marketing - Job Escape Plan book by Jay Conrad Levinson and Andrew Neitlich, Visual Marketing book by David Langton and Anita Campbell and 501 Ways to Roll Out the Red Carpet for Your Customers by Donna Cutting

Ms. Tenes currently sits on the board of directors for Catholic Charities and previously sat on many committees and advisory boards including Silicon Valley Boys & Girls Club, San Jose Rep, San Jose Police Foundation, One Economy/Ebay Foundation, Mercury News Latino Advisory Committee and PACT – People Acting in Community Together.

She volunteers her time mentoring youth through the Diocese of San Jose’s Detention Ministry and The Role Model Program. Ms. Tenes was the founder of BRAVO Toastmasters, one of only six bilingual groups in the nation. She was named Toastmaster of the Year in 1999.

CasaQ is a San Jose-based Hispanic lifestyle company, founded in 2005 by Darlene Tenes that is dedicated to providing unique products, services and content geared toward people who embrace the Latino culture. For over a decade Ms. Tenes is renown for planning festive and creative Hispanic events, which incorporate the traditions and customs of Spain, Mexico and Latin America.

Instructor for the San Francisco State University Extended Learning Event & Meeting Planning Certificate Program teaching the common components of managing and planning well executed meetings and events.  Ms. Tenes teaches industry professionals in three courses - Event Planning, Event Sponsorships and Event Marketing to gain Continuing Education Units towards CMP Exam Requirements.
